Ollie writes music which brings out the best in his ensembles. He has a good understanding of how voices work and is able to cater well for the group or individuals he is writing for, this makes his music all the more effective.
Ollie Lambert is a composer specialising in vocal repertoire. His work has been performed across the UK by the BBC Singers, Canterbury Cathedral Choir, The Hallé Corporate & Youth Choirs, Gesualdo Six, Caritas Chamber Choir, Ardú, & The Manchester Singers amongst others. His passion for vocal music stems from his experience singing seven services a week as Deputy Senior Chorister of Canterbury Cathedral. Ollie currently sings in The Hallé Choir and spent a year as administrative assistant for The Hallé Youth Choirs. As well as his contribution to vocal repertoire, Ollie is also an in-house arranger for electric and acoustic string group 'String Infusion', and has written for the RNCM Film Orchestra, RNCM Brand New Orchestra, and members of the English Chamber Orchestra.
Ollie’s most recent accolades include writing and directing the music for four Shakespeare plays at The Edinburgh Fringe Festival, a commission from Joe Ashmore & The Marvolo Quartet, and a nomination in the 2019 CARA Awards. Ollie is also the founder, director, and composer for brand-new 8-part a cappella ensemble ‘The Apex Singers’.
Ollie’s education and outreach experience ranges from tutoring GCSE and A level composition through to leading masterclasses and workshops at international festivals. Ollie was invited to attend the Irish International A Cappella Festival in 2017, as 'Composer in Residence'. Ollie not only an adjudicated the Irish A Cappella Competition, but also ran a workshop entitled 'Create Your Own Ensemble', culminating in a newly formed choir of thirty performing one of Ollie’s own arrangements as the supporting act for ‘The Swingle Singers’ headline concert. Ollie will be attending the Irish International A Cappella Festival again in 2019, alongside his own a cappella ensemble 'The Apex Singers'.
