Step It Out Mary

Written by Sean McCarthy

Arranged by Ollie Lambert

4-parts - AATB

Penned originally by Sean McCarthy, this traditional Irish ballad is based on a children’s skipping-song that he heard in Kanturk. The lyrics tell the tragic story of Mary who is forced to wed a wealthy countryman despite being in love with a soldier. She is later found drowned alongside her lover on the day of her wedding.
