The Humours of Whiskey
Traditional Irish
Arranged by Ollie Lambert
6-parts - SAATBB
Written by Joseph Lunn around 1825, this tune is in praise of the miraculous properties of poitín, which is an Irish term for whiskey. The lyrics advise regular and generous dosage in order to feel the potent liquor’s full effect. Although poitín could be sold legally it was often illicitly distilled on farms to avoid taxation by the British government.
