Walk the Road With Me

Written by Mike Vass

Arranged by Ollie Lambert

5-parts - SSATB

Pad the Road wi’ Me was written by Mike Vass for his Scottish folk band Malinky. The lyrics are originally from a 1930 folk song collection by John Ord and contain Scottish slang, however our rendition uses an English translation by Matthew Burns. The song tells the story of a man who asks his dearest, Molly, to "walk the road with him”: in other words, to marry him. She refuses at first, afraid of leaving home and remembering cruel past lovers, until he swears on his father’s life that he’ll never do her harm.
