Wild Mountain Thyme

Traditional Irish

Arranged by Ollie Lambert

6-parts - SAATBB

The melody and lyrics of this song are a variant of the traditional folk tune The Braes of Balquhither by Robert Tannahill, reworked by Francis McPeake in the 1950s. Although it is a relatively new song, Wild Mountain Thyme has become a favourite at trad sessions. At first the song may lead you to believe it is written to a lover, but the lyrics in the third verse indicate that this is not a love song to a person, but to the landscape.
